I have been a movement theatre artist for over 25 years, a Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2005 and a mother since 2013.
Feldenkrais Method® is a gentle somatic movement awareness practice that transforms our relationship with ourselves. It can help you
improve your flexibility, balance, posture and coordination
breathe more easily, feel more relaxed and sleep better
relieve stress, tension, anxiety; regulate your nervous system
make you feel more alive and vibrant
learn about yourself, your habits and how to move in and out of them
age more intelligently and increase your resilience
improve your performance in sports, martial arts, yoga, dance, theatre or music
Moshe Feldenkrais was a physicist, judo black belt, polymath and pioneer in the field of somatics. His successors in furthering our understanding of the role of movement in neurobiology include Norman Doidge, Andrew Huberman and Ido Portal.
Awareness Through Movement®
Group classes where I lead you through a different aspect of moving and sensing each week. Classes are verbally led - there is nothing to copy, no right way. If you’re new to Feldenkrais, I ask that you come to a minimum of three classes before deciding if it's for you or not. This is because every class is very different and it can take a few sessions to begin to 'get' what it's all about.
Group classes where we will explore a series of 6 lessons designed to support you through pregnancy. They were developed with pregnant women by Alan Questel, one of Feldenkrais's early students and a trainer in the Method for many years. I used them nearly daily throughout my own pregnancy; they are especially useful in the later stages. This is a great way to connect with other mothers-to-be and find peer support in this amazing time of transformation. I teach the 6 classes on a rolling basis, so you can sign up at any time - the order is not important. You can also repeat them as many times as you wish as each experience will be different.
One to one private sessions involve very gentle hands-on work. We focus on a clear area you would like to address. Every session is different and entirely tailored to your needs. You remain fully clothed (except shoes) and normally lie for some of the time on a low padded table.
